A case of Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis of the Knee in a Child Developed

Abstract
A case of pigmented villonodular synovitis on the knee joint, developed in a 4 year-old female, was reported. Simon (1865) was generally given credit for the first repert of xanthoma of synovial membrane, and thereafter various term were described by many investigators in accordance with its characteristics of patho-histolgical findings.
In 1941 the lesion of pigmented villonodular synovitis was described by Jaffe and co-workers and they suggested that fibrous xanthoma of synovium and pigmented villonodular synovitis are closely rated conditions.
The direct cause of lesion is still unknown, but chronic repeated stimulation to synovium is generally believed as a etiological factor.
In this paper, the clinical and histo-paphological findings were reviewed in relevant literatures.
